Digital Art Instructor - New

BASIC FUNCTION:
The successful candidate will be responsible for lecture and/or laboratory instruction in studio art and digital art including 3-D modeling, animation and/or computer gaming. The assignment may also include other courses in the discipline.

EDUCATION:
Master's degree in studio fine arts or the equivalent is required. (All degrees and units used to satisfy minimum qualifications shall be from accredited institutions).

EXPERIENCE:
Community college or baccalaureate-level teaching experience is required. Two years of teaching experience is desired. Expertise in drawing, painting, and/or design is required. Expertise in 3-D modeling, animation, computer art, and/or computer game design is desired. Industry experience in a game studio is desired. Ability to teach a variety of classes and maintain an art studio is desired.

Licenses/Certifications:
None.

Other:
Evidence of a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students (E.C. 87360a).

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. The instructional assignment will include lecture and laboratory classes in the discipline.
2. Responsible also for general studio/computer lab maintenance, and for proper handling of toxic substances.
3. Assignments are based upon the assumption of workload of forty hours weekly, including but not limited to conducting classes, class preparation, student evaluation, office hours, committee work, curriculum and program development, and student activities.
4. Other responsibilities include maintaining standards of professional conduct and ethics appropriate to the professional position.
5. Supervising student organizations and other co-curricular activities is expected of all faculty members.

Conditions of Employment:
1. Ten-month, tenure-track position.
2. Salary is commensurate with academic preparation, and full-time teaching or equivalent experience with a range from Column C, Step 1 to Column H, Step 6 of the current Faculty Salary Schedule.
3. Medical and dental benefits are provided for the employee and legal dependents.
